This is an real story happened in India in 1865, till now the revolution had been
not known to many parts of globe and even many parts of india itself.The purpose of this blog is to reveal the great sacrifice that even others will never dream of it.
This is the picture of colonel.Johnpennycuick who was an army engineer in the british ruled government in india .He was responsible for the construction of the famous Mullaperiyar dam,
in the north west of tamil nadu which severely drought hit and famine struck leaving millions of peoples to die in agony, seeing this johnpennycuick decided to implement the construction of the dam in 1855, at a cost of 2lac dollars(0.2million dollars in 1855), but due to natures fury in the form of wild floods, the dam was destroyed ,lot of indian workers and british officials washed away in the floods.And th british govt. decided to stop the work due to deficit of funds.At this juncture,colonel john pennycuick decided to construct the dam at any cost, went to england sold his properties and wife jewels and returned to india and constructed the dam with his own funds.This is the great sacrifice he has done to the people of north west tamilnadu and today it has ever flowing river connected to this dam which irrigates millions of hectares bringing prosperity.May god blesshim and his family members and we give a hearty tribute to him.
